FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES

The Julian Family Fiddle Camp is a great place for people of any age  who enjoy meeting others and improving their instrumental skills on fiddle, mandolin or guitar.  We particularly welcome those who, in mid-life, seek to build on their early musical training and gain more confidence in improvisation, as well as those who simply wish to play or listen to music in beautiful surroundings.

The Julian Family Fiddle Camp is unique from other music camps for, in addition to providing group, tutorial and master-class instruction by some great fiddle, mandolin and guitar players, we make a point of catering to those new to an instrument and to the non-playing family members (young and not-so-young) of music campers.  Specifically, those accompanying a music camper are able to enjoy the camp's great food, jam sessions and concerts, while having time and opportunity to visit the adjacent historic town of Julian, the many attractions in nearby San Diego, engage at will in the activities found at Camp Cedar Glen, or simply relax in the camp's beautiful natural surroundings.

... AND FOR PARENTS

The Julian Family Fiddle Camp knows there's much to raising good people and fine musicians (yes, in that order).  Indeed, in our view, a positive music camp experience is one that stimulates the interest in music by exposing us to a musical sub-culture that exemplifies patience and generosity through the sharing of traditional and accessible tunes - an experience that enhances, encourages and represents an ageless participation in a uniquely human celebration.

While musicians young and old may share thier favored tunes, parents and/or chaperones coming to a music camp may have additional things to talk about with others in the same boat.  This parental "sharing of notes" is not only inevitable, at the Julian Family Fiddle Camp, it is encouraged.  Indeed, we make a point of introducing parents to one another, and have built into our program a special time for them, chaperones and interested others to meet and get to know  one another.
